About

I am BD8BZY,location is Chengdu, China. My grid square is OM20, CQ ZONE 24, ITU Zone 43.

I currently live in a high-rise apartment building. There is no suitable environment for setting up a large fixed antenna on the roof, so my communication mainly relies on outdoors. Although it is a bit regretful, it is not a bad thing. I can enjoy the fun of communication while camping with my little daughter in the wild. In addition to giant pandas and hot pot, Chengdu also has many beautiful parks. Our family’s goal is to first visit all the parks in Chengdu, and then when our daughter is older, we can drive to Western Sichuan, Yunnan (mom’s birthplace), and Shandong (dad’s birthplace) to enjoy the beautiful mountains and rivers, and to put up my antennas.

Although previously in the datacom/optical communications industry (and now software), I am new to the radio world. To me, amateur radio is equivalent to rediscovering the fun of childhood, reading college textbooks, and relearning high school English. I still remember the words that came to my mind when I opened the express package for my first radio station: Long time no see, old friend. For me, the process of making QSO is as important as the result. I will not let go of the surprises that every turn of the dial brings to me, and I will not be afraid of learning every data pattern. I hope that the radio waves can bring me friends, and I also hope to become friends with the radio waves themselves.

Although I am currently obsessed with qrp, weak signal propagation, and homemade rigs, I am happy to discuss all things amateur radio with you.

When I get interference in my signal it's probably not due to qrn but my cat kicking my coax...
